When the Struggle Gets LOUD
Let’s keep it a hundred—sometimes our flesh is LOUD enough to drown out a whole praise playlist. One minute you’re sipping your matcha feeling all “saved, fine & fabulous,” and the next you’re ready to clap back at somebody’s text, binge on that messy show you said you were done with, or slide right back into an old habit you swore you left behind (or the DMs of a man you should've threw away years ago..
Whew! That tug-of-war isn’t proof that you’re failing, fabulous—it’s proof that your spirit is alive and we refusing to let the old you win.
What’s Really Happening Inside

Paul breaks it down in Galatians 5:17: “The flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.” Translation? Your old self and the Holy Spirit are not on the same team—and that tension you feel is the fight for your focus. Don’t confuse the struggle for weakness.
The very fact that you feel that pull means the Spirit is in you, keeping you from settling for less than God’s best.
Staying Spirit-Led in Real Life
1. Feed Your Spirit, Even When Life Is Loud
Even ten minutes of prayer or a quick scripture read while the kids are playing can fuel you more than you think. A well-fed spirit recognizes the flesh when it starts whispering and has the strength to say “nah, not today.”
2. Know Your Triggers—And Don’t Play With Them
3. Find Your Kingdom Kinship
Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” (That is why its so important to find a good partner; not one that's lazy and bum-like). Yup, I said it.
Get yourself a crew who won’t just hype your outfit but will pray you through your weak moments. The right circle will lovingly call you higher when you’re tempted to settle low.
When You Slip, Don’t Stay Down
Listen—none of us win every round. You might stumble, you might even sprint back to something you promised you’d quit. But Romans 8:1 declares “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Grace isn’t a hall pass to keep sinning; it’s the hand that helps you back up, dusts you off, and says,
“Let’s keep going.”
Fighting the flesh isn’t a one-and-done thing; it’s a lifelong walk. But every single round proves God’s Spirit is working inside you, giving you strength to choose Him over every impulse. The fight means you’re still in the game—and victory is already promised.
Question for the day: Where do you feel that tug-of-war the most, fabulous, and how can you invite God’s Spirit to guide you through it this week?
